Epping Ongar Railway Station Approach, Chipping Ongar, Ongar, Essex, CM5 9BN

Activities & Days Out
Step back in time and experience the romance of travel in bygone times as you pass through picturesque countryside, beautiful forest and historic towns. Here you will find the longest heritage railway in Essex and the closest to London, easily accessible via the tube network Also it is the only heritage line that runs on a former part of the tube network. There are not only trains but also vintage buses which start from the front door of Epping and Shenfield stations, whisking you back in time to the period stations, with heritage steam and diesel hauled trains. All three heritage transport experiences offer a great day out for all the family, including your well-behaved pooch who can join you on all trains and buses with the exception of the dining carts. Should your companion feel thirsty, there are water bowls on the platforms with fresh water available. If you and your four-legged friend are feeling particularly energetic you can catch the train at Epping, travel to Ongar and walk back via the Essex Way. The Essex Way passes through Ongar and is an ideal path to follow back to Epping Station. It is approximately 8 miles from Ongar back to Epping
