Cymbeline Meadows The Chase Way, Colchester, Essex, CO3 4AZ

One of Colchester's country parks and largely devoted to farmland this contains not only part of the Iron Age Lexden Dyke but also the site of Lexden's medieval manorial court (Lexden Lodge), which later became the base for the Roundhead army during the Civil War siege of Colchester. The River Colne meanders gently through these lovely meadows. Although bounded on two sides by the Norwich to London railway line and a busy road you hear hardly any noise. There are a few picnic tables near the river and excellent signposting for walking the farm or woodland trail. Please treat the cows with great respect when they graze here during the Spring and Summer!
